Matthew Turner, DVM, MSc, DACVECC
Department Head - Critical Care
Between 2004 and 2008, Dr. Turner attended SUNY Cobleskill, Cornell University, and the University of Edinburgh. He graduated with his DVM from North Carolina State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2011. Following his schooling, Dr. Turner completed his residency at Cape Cod Veterinary Specialists and spent two years in private practice in emergency medicine at a multi-disciplinary specialty hospital outside of Philadelphia. His special interests include shock, sepsis, resuscitation, mechanical ventilation, and he closely follows emergency technologies in critical care. Dr. Turner is a member of the AVMA, ACVECC, VECCS and was chosen for poster presentations at IVECCS in both 2015 and 2016.
Dr. Turner is an All-American Swimmer and a musician, playing percussion, violin, piano, and guitar. Growing up, Dr. Turner’s grandparents owned a boarding kennel which originally sparked his interest in dogs. The ability to help pets and their families amidst life-threatening scenarios, and saving a pet’s life are the true rewards behind Dr. Turner’s dedicated work at Pieper Veterinary.
